Social media is the enemy’s latest attempt to draw souls into hell, and that stratagem does not appear to be losing momentum. Unfortunately, too many Christians are caught in its trap. The Lord said, write a webpage on social media and put it on the ATcicJ website. The title shall be: Are you a friend of the world? He went on to say, “The Internet is the World Wide Web (www).” Then, He showed me a spider’s web. The Lord said, “Once insects are caught in a spider’s web, they cannot free themselves, and they are drawn to their death. He said, “The Internet is a Web of lies. It entangles and ensnares.” The Lord went on to say, “The Body of Christ is in the state it is in because people do not like to read the Bible. Believers are spending every waking moment tinkering with social media, gaming systems, and the Internet.”
When someone uses the Web of lies (Internet), especially if they are aimlessly searching, they always find something they are not looking for, which leads them on a path to no return. That thing they find causes them to engage in a series of searches that allows the devil to know exactly where they are in their mindset and their relationship with the Lord. It’s like the enemy says, OH, YOU like looking at such and such. Naturally, based on that such and such, cookies are attached to your computer. Spiritually, evil spirits attach themselves to you and follow you around, drawing you back to those websites. That is the true meaning of networking! You are not just networking with other users; you are connecting with the spirits they operate in, and the spirits attached to those websites. Those specific evil spirits cause you to subscribe and follow those sites or individuals.
Spiders spin webs where they know they will have plenty of food (prey); they must also protect their eggs. The World Wide Web operates similarly.
Those on the Web of lies are there for a reason. They are there to get people interested in what they have to offer, whether it is to sell them a service or product. However, the Web of lies is more than what it seems. The Lord Jesus Christ is speaking directly to those who claim to belong to Him. He is telling you that evil spirits are attached to most Web of lies and social media sites, which cause all manner of distractions to prevent you from doing what the Lord would have you to do in a day's time. Every generation suffers from the enemy’s strategem. 1st Peter 5:8-9 admonishes, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”
Sober (S.C. 3525 Gk.) means to be discreet; watch. Vigilant (S.C. 1127 Gk.) means to keep awake and be watchful. I can see some of you waking in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, and you start checking your devices. That’s just too much! Go back to sleep! Oh, you can’t sleep. You can’t pray. You can’t read your Bible. You can’t even enjoy Church service because your devices are calling YOU: pick me up; tinker with me; check your email; answer that text. Check for so and so’s new Youtube video; they said it would be posted today. Do you remember the last message the Lord ministered at Church, or were you on one of your devices? Christians even go to Church now so they can video and post to YouTube. Is that the only reason you go to Church? Wow! I AM telling you, you need to repent! saidst the Lord! 1st Peter 5:8-9 clearly warns that we have an adversary who seeks to find an occasion against believers. He walketh about (S.C. 4043 Gk.) - seeking (2212 Gk.) - whom (5101 Gk.) - he may devour (2666 Gk.) He follows you; he is occupied with you as one would be with a companion. He plots against your life directly or indirectly until he swallows you up entirely. With all of that plotting against us, believers have to be on guard.
It does not matter what the platform is; the world has convinced YOU, a believer, that you need social media to prosper. But that is not true! The Lord will bless those who belong to Him without social media. Nearly fifteen years ago, I was told I needed a career social media account to get a position at a university. I set up the account, yet my experience was the opposite of what I expected. Most of the time, people from my past looked me up, yet they made no contact. I guess they were just nosy. The individuals who contacted me were not really interested in me because everyone on social media is looking to get something from everyone else. They should call it SELFish MEdia.
I remember a young lady on that career networking site cussing out several users because she could not get a job. The users tried to enlighten her on why she was not selected, but she would not listen. I never make comments online, yet when I said something to encourage her, she cussed me out too. I mean, cussed me out! Wow! Once she cussed everyone out, we all knew why she couldn’t get employment. Even career and professional networking sites are tainted with foolishness. I finally had my full when an influx of individuals from Asia started contacting me about employment. That was so confusing because I was not a recruiter. Then there were all the alerts from the mobile app. When the alerts and correspondence did not stop, I closed the account and haven’t looked back; that was about five years ago. After I closed the account, I obtained a position at a university. Look at the Lord Jesus!
It does not matter if the founders of SELFish MEdia had good intentions when the sites were created; humans constantly misuse that which has been given to the world. And it is terrible when it interferes with the most precious things in life, like our relationship with the Lord Jesus and those around us. When we take those precious things for granted by not spending quality time, we are on the verge of losing them. I see someone right now on the phone when they should be eating dinner with their family. Hear me, what type of prayer life do you have? When is the last time you spent quality time with the Lord Jesus to love on Him because of who He is? All it takes is one to lead many down the wrong road.
The world is in a state where many are dissatisfied with using things aright. It’s like using a butter knife as a screwdriver. Why can’t you use the butter knife for butter and buy a screwdriver for screws? If someone is drama-filled, they will use SELFish MEdia to display and forward drama instead of writing a screenplay or joining a touring theater company. Unfortunately, there are too many who fit into that category. Moreover, there is a demonic and devilish element attached to SELFish MEdia and the Web of lies because it is so attractive that it is difficult to turn it all off. Something is wrong if you watch videos all day when you should be working or all night when you should be sleeping. Posting comments and messages all day is unreasonable. You know it is addictive, yet your will not stop. Philippians 4:5 declares, “Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.”
If there is anything in this world that you cannot live without, it is idolatry. There should not be anything that you are not willing to give up for Jesus. Besides, the Web of lies and SELFish MEdia is all make-believe. People desire for you to believe things about them that are not true. There is a false show of importance on the Web of lies, and believers should beware. Then there are the apps to download, which have all manner of alerts and messages, that, if you turn them off, defeat the purpose of downloading the app. If you have a large number of followers, it can be a full-time job trying to keep up with them. Think about the ones who are posting videos and messages several times a day. If you follow several sites, when do you have time to do anything else? So what’s the point? Well, if you say you are a believer in Jesus Christ, how much time do you spend each day fellowshipping with Him? How much time are you spending on building upon your relationship with Him? If you answer little to none, then the Lord is saying one day, you are going to look around and find yourself so far away from Him that you may not be able to find your way back.
James 4:4 declares, “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” The Lord said adulterers and adulteresses because idolatry is spiritual adultery, making the idolater an apostate, one who abandons their faith. Friendship (5373 Gk.) in that passage of Scripture means fondness; enemy (2190 Gk.) means hateful or actively hostile. In truth, enmity (2189 Gk.) means there is hostility coming from you toward the Lord. It implies there is hatred and opposition plaguing your relationship with Jesus. If you don’t believe it, look up the words in the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance for yourself.
That hidden hatred is what causes you to hold on to SELFish MEdia. If you are reading this post and are getting angry, that is a sign you have hostility toward the Lord because He is the one telling you to get off of SELFish MEdia. The demonic element makes it idolatry because you cannot and will not let it go. Idolatry means immoderate attachment or devotion to something or someone. Immoderate means your attachment to SELFish MEdia and use of the Web of lies exceeds righteous, normal, and appropriate boundaries. Since you will not let it go, even when instructed by the Lord, you are ensnared and entangled. The more it feels good to you, the more you will be powerless to let it go on your own. You better call upon the name of Jesus before it is too late! If you belong to the Lord, He has been telling you to let SELFish MEdia go, and you refuse to listen. If you value your relationship with Him, you will take heed.
The Lord said, “Some of you see the Internet as your counselor instead of seeking Me for counsel.” If you are a Christian, Jesus Christ must be your counselor. When you have the Holy Ghost, He will tell you everything you need to know in His time. If you cannot hear the Lord’s voice for yourself, something is wrong. If you think He is only speaking to preachers, think again. He desires to speak directly to all of His children. He desires to have a closer walk with you NOW! In this day and age, it is necessary for you to hear from Jesus for yourself. Preachers do have their place too. However, can you turn to Jesus and hear His instruction for your life when they are not around? That way, He can tell you directly to let go of the Web of lies and SELFish MEdia. If you cannot hear Jesus for yourself, something is wrong. You need to earnestly seek the Lord for the Holy Ghost if you do not have Him in the measure you need. If you do have the Holy Ghost, you need to seek Him so He can speak to you. When He does speak, always obey what He says.
1st Corinthians 6:12 declares, “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.” Furthermore, 1st Corinthians 10:23 reemphasizes, “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.” In other words, you have a right to use SELFish MEdia as much as you like because the Lord Jesus created you with free will. However, it is not advantageous to your walk with the Lord; it is not good, profitable, or better for you.
But! If YOU desire to be free, raise your hands and pray: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I command the spirit of the world, the Internet, the Web of lies, the world wide web, social and SELFish MEdia to let me go! In Jesus’ name! Amen! Now, close all of those SELFish MEdia accounts and do not look back.
Now, spend quality time with the Lord Jesus Christ daily. If you do not have the Holy Ghost, pray for the Lord to send you to a Holy Ghost filled ministry so you can grow. If you have the Holy Ghost already or when you receive the Holy Ghost, spend time in devotion each morning to hear His instruction. If you are obedient to Him, He will talk to you and instruct you concerning how much time you should be spending with Him, what to read and study in the Bible, and which ministry to attend. After that, walk in the victory the Lord Jesus has given YOU!
